Yes. And it might smell as built up guck is being released. We hear how it sounds: “Gotta worry about the pits now too?” But we promise – it will totally be worth your time and your armpits will thank you for realizing that they have been so neglected.

What Exactly Is This Pit-tox?

Short and simple - an armpit detox is like a face mask that you apply under your arms for much of the same purposes: reversing irritation and inflammation, removal of buildup, and purification of sensitive skin. When you think of it this way, an armpit detox seems much less intimidating.

Is An Armpit Detox For Me?

If you’ve been using antiperspirants and deodorants and are concerned about chemical residues that may have built up under your arms, an armpit detox has your pits’ names written all over it. The perfume-y product that you have been using may have some funky ingredients in it that can be harmful to skin, such as aluminum, phthalates, and formaldehyde. An armpit detox can help pull some of these chemicals out and give your sweat glands a much needed break - think about how hard they are constantly working to keep up with you.

What’s The Point?

The way that antiperspirant and deodorants work is by clogging sweat glands to minimize sweating, which is what you want when you’re trying to avoid those unsightly T-shirt stains. But, this comes at the price of exposing sensitive underarm skin to alcohol, fragrances, and other harsh chemicals which cause redness or itchiness. An armpit detox helps alleviate these harsh side effects over time. The best part is that it also eliminates built up odor, instead of just adding a gel-like layer to cover it up.

Where Should I Start?

You can easily do an armpit detox by combining 1 tablespoon bentonite clay + 1 tablespoon ACV + 1-2 tablespoons water in a mixing bowl and applying the mixture to each armpit for 5-10 minutes (not to exceed 20 minutes) before you shower. You can then wash off with warm water. You may experience some redness initially, which is normal and will go away. If you have any concerns about using bentonite clay + ACV, apply a small amount first to check for any reactions. If you’re not feeling this DIY option, try this coconut & charcoal armpit detox instead.
