Cream Or Powder Face Highlighter For That Radiant Glow?

We know, we know – “give me all the highlight, I don’t care in which form.” We feel the same exact type of giddy-ness whenever we see any (literally, any) type of highlighter. Nonetheless, cream and powder highlighters do offer different perks, depending on your skin type. So knowing which type of highlighter to use can take you from a basic glow to “who is that glow goddess among us!”

Liquid highlighters are perfect for achieving that wet, dewy, fresh out of a steam shower look (even at a Wednesday work meeting). They’re also versatile and can be mixed with your foundation for an overall luminous look. BEWARE: if you have oily skin, liquid highlighter is less likely than its dry peer highlighters to stay put throughout the day and tends to slip away. For this same reason, liquid highlighters are wonderful for dry skin because they provide a “damp-ness” to skin. We love the CoverFx Custom Enhancer Drops – added bonus: they’re clean!

Cream highlighters are usually more on the matte side and achieve the opposite of a dewy look so they are perfect for oily skin. But we find that cream highlighters tend to be a cross between concealer and blush in the sense that they can end up providing more coverage than glow. This is where the concentrated nature of a cream highlighter can be a good or bad thing depending on your glow goals. We love the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick because it doesn’t skimp on the shine. Added plus: cream highlighters in stick form are super easy to use.

Powder highlighters have the strongest following and are the preferred option for anything glow-related. The powder sticks to skin, even with just one brush stroke, and is perfect for oily skin. We find that the concentration of shimmer is more visible to the eye than its peer liquid and cream formulations. Powder highlighters are also more practical for that 9-5 M-F routine because they require less blending with your finger and more quick dusting with a brush. We enjoy using the It Cosmetics Hello Light Anti-Aging Powder Illuminizer – added bonus: it’s an anti-aging powerhouse!
