Joey: The King of Hairstyles

No matter which streaming platform you are loyal to, Joey King has graced your screen in one form or another. More than just scrambling her way through love triangles or avoiding her overbearing mother, Joey proves that she is just as versatile and playful as her many hairstyles, giving us major hair envy. Here’s some eye-catching inspiration for your next hair styling session:

Texture + Volume

Having locks that are full of life and bounce like Joey’s is that serious. If your hair does that thing where it goes flat as a pancake as soon as it turns noon, this easy texturizing trick will carry you well into (and after) happy hour: start by spraying a volumizing dry shampoo like Bumble and bumble Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray ($15) or Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast ($29) directly into your hands, flip your hair upside down, and run your fingers lightly through your strands. Wrap a few sections around your fingers and away from your face for a natural wave while lightly backcombing the remaining sections with a fine tooth comb for added height.

Bangs

Joey’s bangs will convince any non-believer to grab a pair of scissors and get to snipping. The lower wispy part of her bangs rest perfectly under her eyebrows, grazing slightly above her lash line for that dreamy and romantic look. Have no fear - Joey is proof that bangs can look sultry with any hair color and length. For styling, simply wrap your bangs around a round brush – similar to the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Thermal Hair Brush $22 (comes in various sizes) – and using a blow dryer, pull them in an upwards direction for volume and fluff.

Accessories…

…that are small but mighty, just like Joey. Whether it’s a pearlized hair pin or a funkie scrunchie (you can actually sleep in these), your locks can always benefit from a more playful and unexpected element, for any occasion.  Although, we hold an evening hair accessory to a different criteria: sparkle. We love this Scunci Crystal Headband ($16). When in doubt, just throw on a headband for a pop of vibrancy or if you’re feeling extra tropical, the cocktail umbrella floating in your pina colada.
